a portrait of headache I by Nilanja a portrait of headache I by Nilanja

The idea of this small series is to show how my headache feels and where it is located. It usually hurts like on the first image but last week it was located like in the second one. It came at night and I thought about where it actually hurts and imagined its "shape". Then I had this idea.

Btw: I am now on behance too: www.behance.net/petrahollaender

I think I know this type of headache. It's the type that usually ends up in a full blown migraine for me. Although for me it's usually slightly higher up, without any pain below my eyes. (Ah, I see the second one is on Behance. That's pretty much what I was talking about)

The pose is really nice, and the expression really looks like "If I don't move, it might go away". I think I would like the framing more if the eyes were higher in the image. But I can understand why the camera wasn't aimed lower.

I think the concept is brilliant. I like the idea of mapping out your headache in a photo series. The background feels almost claustrophobic which is good in regards to the concept. Something seems strange about the black paint, and I can't quite pinpoint it. How do you feel about the results?

thanks a lot Kyle!
I wasn't sure what kind of background would fit best. first I wanted it to shoot in nature but then I thought the background there maybe could be too distracting. what do you think?

it is no paint, it is this plastic foil again ;) maybe that's why it seems strange?

uhm…I don't know. on the one hand I like the idea a lot and I think I did the best I can do but on the other hand I feel like I haven't taken any step forward with this photo. it looks like I took it a half year ago. maybe even one year…
