I am torn between university and art...
on the one hand I want to finish university and get a nice job. of course it is not that easy, because I actually don't know what I want to do after the bachelor. the only thing I know at the moment is, that I want to get the bachelor^^
on the other hand I love art, I love taking photos, I love looking at other people's awesome works and I also see how much some artists give to earn money with their art, to make a living out of it. that makes me dreaming of beeing a full time artist...but how? then the doubts come that I will probably not make it...

I don't know if you can see all that in the photo. there is probably more behind...I worked on this picture for hours - I can't even tell if it is good or not, if the concept is clear and so on. So I would appreciate a constructive critique very much!

---

thanks to my sister for helping me with the photo! on my own this wouldn't have been possible

PS: I am thinking of making a series out of this concept...but I am not sure yet. also I really should bring my alphabet project to an end ._.

You can do both. WHy would you pick?
If you can only pick one pick art.

pezi, there are a lot of things u can do being a photographer!! publications, journals, magazines, covers! and most important ART! people on this things wants professional photographers, and u are creative! besides u are a designer too! and with a little of imagination u can mix both works in time to times.. what could be more fun then that? :D
but ofc u can always choose others things. and continue to photograph as a hobby. :) is your choice girl :)

So you are in a quite similar situation to my own...
Well, I think that you will be a great artist no matter if you become professional at it or not. You already are - having a head full of ideas and making them come to life :)
But how and if it's a good idea to become professional, I don't know that either... Well, it's all about whether you can do something that others will commission or buy and whether you want to do it. There are things I could do for small amounts of money, but I don't want to do them... I've made a choice similar to yours at the moment and I am going to keep going on my personal artistic path while striving to get a degree and, as you say, a "nice job" ;) And I'll keep an eye open on what life has to bring...

yeah, your photo is beautiful and we can feel those feelings you speak about!
Moreover, I really understand you because I share your feelings... I'm more than fond of drawing but I also like biology and animals so I plan to go attend a preparatory class next year but I know it is really difficult and what I fear the most is the fact that I know for sure that I won't be able to draw during 2 or three years (except a bit during summer holidays) ... and I don't know how to live without drawing, how to live without thinking about it every day...
That's why I want to tell you "courage !". I think that the most secure way to live from your art is to start by doing something else, more stable in order to make a living and then, little by little, move to art !

Cooles Bild -- die herumfliegenden Gegenstände haben etwas Dalí-artiges.

Von Kunst zu leben ist sicher keine einfache Sache. Was studierst du denn?

Also gar nichts so sehr Künstlerisches...

oooh now I understand! my pic was on the frontpage for a bit of time. you can not "add" it to the popular section, it has to become popular! that means it has to have a certain ammount of pageviews and faves to get there. if it has enough in the first 8 hours after it has been submitted, it appears on the frontpage at the popular section "popular 8 hours"

Similar to me!,though i'm studying architecture at the moment( I feel a lot of pressure). In fact ,i want to become a photographer, maybe later i will look for a professional courses in order to develop skills for my passion. About money, I think working in a fashion magazine like Vogue will be great(this is my dream) you can mix genres such as conceptual, fashion, fineart, portrait ... I do not know how to balance between money and Drawing Jobs, but I know there are many ways to work full time with photography :p. Finally ,Pursue the things you love doing..

totally understand your worries. I stopped drawing for now because of tough times in university, but I begin to understand, that I don't really want to finish university, make my diploma and those bullsh... stuff. So, yeah. The question really is "How?"

I would never stop doing art because of university or art! I never want to, I should say instead  I hope I never will...
but yeah, the question is if it is enough to keep it as a hobby...
