Levitation - the process of rising or being raised in the air.
You think it is impossible?
Well with a little help of photoshop nothing is impossible.
Levitation fascinates a lot of people, not only some humans,
who think they have some crazy skills which allow them to float in the air
but it also mesmerizes a lot of photographers!
Not only humans are levitating in photos
but objects, like apples, letters and balloons are floating too.
Levitation photography allows the artist to create unusual and surreal scenes
which remind us of magic, dreams and another world.
Nothing seems to be impossible,
it is like some magic happened during the shooting.
But how does levitation photography actually work?
There are several techniques to achieve the effect of floating.
Every artist probably has its own, which deflects a bit from others.
One technique is to simply jump and take a photo - then you don't need
photoshop to create that effect. You can also throw papers in the air without any
photoshop magic. But often it is just impossible to achieve a really interesting
levitation position withouth editing. What you need for a really simple
levitation photo is a tripod and and object (like a chair) where the model
can stand/lie on. You have to take a photo of the model standing on the object
and one of the background without the model and the object but with the same focus.
Then just put the two photos together in PS - the one with the model must be the top layer.
Using a layer mask, remove the object and it will look like the model is floating!
That's it!
Of course it is sometimes not that simple and you have to figure out another way
to let your objects float. But we don't want to disclose every trick here hehe.
Just try it out yourself and have fun by creating magical, surreal levitation photos!
Coincidentally I made a levitation photo of myself just yesterday, hehe
show me!
